IWSG

It is ridiculous how insecure I am about my writing right now. Imagine for one second, writing this posts for IWSG four times. FOUR times. I was up until 1:30 last night, hunched over this damn computer, eyes burning, shoulder screaming, only to end up scrapping each one of my posts.

I detest every word I punch out. The only reason I'm finally publishing this post is because I've run out of time and have finally given up. So this is quite possibly the worst post in the history of blogging - sue me. There are probably spelling errors in here too (gasp!). But I'm sorry, the words are just not there, or here, or anywhere. I feel like I've been trying to force puzzle pieces together and the picture of The Kiss by Klimt, looks like The Scream by Munch.  *rolls eyes at crappy imagery*. Wish I could say my verbal deficiency is due to the 6 hour jet lag, but I've been in the States for almost a week now so the time zone can't be blamed.

So you know what? This post sucks but that's ok. I'm going to be fine. Today is the 4th of July and I'm going to celebrate it with my kids. We are going to get dressed in Red, White and Blue. I'm going to paint my toe nails with bright blue glittery nail polish, put on a crazy 4th of July head band and enjoy the festivities. I'm going to ooh and ahh at the pretty fireworks with my children, something I haven't been able to do in years. I'm going to enjoy this day because that is what's important to me.

And yes, I realize I've used the word "I'm" too many times in this post, but my writing can just go to hell.  At least for the day...

So to all of you celebrating today: HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY 4th OF JULY!

  12. Welcome back to America, if only for awhile... hope you had a great day Wednesday and enjoy the rest of your time back home :)

PS... remember, you are on vacation... so it's OK to goof off and not even write :)

  13. You are good enough! Sometimes people just need a break, though. Give yourself a little time to cool down...then get back to writing when you feel a little better. Best of luck!

  14. You sound so insecure about your IWSG Post! LOL I too delete and rewrite posts, mostly because I'm trying to scale back my controversial opinions.

  15. My goodness, Elise, take a breath or two. It's one thing if you're working on a novel for an agent or publisher, but if it's just for a blog -- just for us writers -- we're the most forgiving bunch you can find. It's not brain surgery. No one's going to die if you misspell something or write "I'm" too many times. Take it easy! :-)

  16. it's only a blog post... not the next bestselling novel... chill with your babes, and forget the rest! :)

  17. I don't think you know the honesty that explodes from your words. We've all had posts (and paragraphs and pages and...) that go like this. Sometimes hitting Publish is the hardest thing I do in a day (and I have three kids!).

I think all the best writers anguish over the words. But they also have to find a time to let them go. Hugs!
