Nano Nightmare: Day 12

National Novel Writing Month

Daily Word Count: 2,257 and counting...
Total Word Count: 11,094
Words Remaining: 38,906

frowny NaNo face

My weekend trip ended up being an emotional rollercoaster ride and a nightmare for my word count. It started off not too bad, but I had to deal with a mini family crisis which killed my forward momentum. The family crisis has been dealt with, but now I'm scrambling to catch up. I swear, being around negative and mentally unstable people is like standing in front of a black hole that just sucks the life and creativity right out of you. I wish I could weed those kinds of people out of my life, but it's hard when they're part of the family.... Anyway, at least the trip was fun and positive for the kids who really enjoyed a visit into a prehistoric cave. Yeah for stalactites, stalagmites, and cave paintings! :D

Hope you all are doing great on your end,
I've got to get back to playing drums on my keyboard.
:P

  1. Hi Elise - yes .. the difficult 'negatives' who happen to somehow occur in our lives .. plenty of them around .. but we need to brush them away. Glad you sorted the crisis out ... and now you're home - if you can take your hat off .. those brainy ideas might come careering out and caress your typing fingers...... Good luck - cheers Hilary

  2. Negative people are such a drain. Sorry you had to deal with them. Just keep writing. You are still getting a lot of words down on paper.

  3. Now you have one more reason to look back at this month and be amazed at everything you accomplished.

  4. Glad the crisis got sorted out. Negative people are bad, negative relatives are worse.

Lots of caves to see in France. Lucky you.

  5. Oh man! I'm sorry about the setback, but I'm glad you and your are okay. I'm totally with you. Behind--but way further behind than you. I guess getting to the end of my blog tour just killed all momentum. Better to take a break than burn out.

  6. Hope you get back on track. Family first though, no matter how challenging they are. Sounds like a fun cave visit.

  7. Ugg to the negative people, if they are family you can move far far far away from them lol and just hope they don't follow.

  8. What if I'm the emotionally unstable one.....

  9. Oh gosh, looks like I'm not the only one infected with creative mind-sucking peeps. Sorry about that, but it will get better. And you'll get stronger, or at least you'll learn how to flee from it better. LOL Those creative vampires, which in my case as well happen to be family, are the reason I'm not partaking in NaNo this year. Best of luck to you!

  10. I fell off the nano bus. I plan to attempt a catch up at some point.

  11. I'm not even trying NaNo, so you have me beat from the get- go.

You totally stole my black hole line. That's what I have called family reunions forever. I know you don't have my house bugged, so I'll just assume we're on the same drama-hating wave length.

  12. It can be so draining! I have mandatory unwind time after negative experiences like that. There is still plenty of time to catch up! One less thing to stress about. :)

Double yay for prehistoric caves! ^_^

    Truer words were never spoken.

Sorry you had to go through this. I hope things get better for you soon. :(

  15. I'm glad to hear your family crisis has been taken care of. Good luck continuing on with NaNo. If it makes you feel better, I've had writing days where the most I could write was just one measly sentence, and it wasn't even a wordy run-on sentence at that.
