Or--Q for Quickie
which is probably a good thing after our
super l o n g P-post yesterday.
Confession time.
I'm freaking oooouuutttt.
Today is my last pre-written posts. I had up to Q finished with R and S in rough shape before the challenge. So after this post, I've essentually got nothing left--zilch. Hence, me freaking out. And since the start of the challenge, I've done nothing to stay ahead of the game. Yes, it's my fault. Yes, I'm a procrastinator, and yes I constantly live in the state of freaking the holy hell out. But, that's my problem. I'll still manage to bring you the best of the best of ologies, well except for today. Turns out Q is slim pickings as far as -ologies go. Quinology was all I could find that was semi-serious. I guess it's better than Q for Qtipology (which I just made up but you never know, maybe it does exist). But look on the bright side, at least you get a quickie today, and that starts with Q!
Quinology is the science that deals with the cultivation of the cinchona tree. There are 38 different species in the genus Chinchona that yields C 2 0 H 2 4 N 2 O 2 , an alkaloid called quinine. Quinine is important because it is used in the medical field to treat malaria.

And that's a wrap!
I'm sure you guys can make up with some great q_ology words. :D
Happy Friday.
Enjoy your weekend.
Try to get out of the house and do something fun.
Get into trouble.
Then blog about it.
(:

Thanks so much for the pronunciation on this one! I've never heard of it, but the flowers look lovely. And don't worry, I'm sure you'll wing-it well ;)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I've been winging it since K. Surf the panic!

Another great ology word.
ReplyDeleteHi Elise .. can feel the same way - we can only do what we can do! Your Q for Quickie was a good follow-up post to your P for ....
ReplyDeleteThankfully I managed to get most of mine done .. just needed to schedule them and the pics .. on the way now to put up tomorrow's and get the last ones done over the weekend ..
Good luck - and just enjoy .. we love coming here ... Hilary
You filled us in on great ology's next month. So no matter what Ellie, thank you. My last pre-written letter is R so you're not alone. I will have the last few posts done in time though.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing. I have to write six shorts this weekend. Nothing like a little pressure.
ReplyDeleteDon't panic! You have Sunday to plan the rest of your posts. You can do it.
ReplyDeleteWell, quinine is important so I'm glad they have this field.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the rest of the posts. I'm sure you can do it!
LOL get in trouble and blog about it, love that, as it is so true. And geez such a procrastinator. I'm into July for posts haha
ReplyDeleteI never heard of that, and quinine's so vital in Africa. My Egyptian hubby had quite a bout with malaria when young.
ReplyDeleteIf you run out of -ologies, you can borrow Michelle's idea and ask your readers to make up definitions for an -ology you invent. Good luck! :-)
Time for some creative Google searches. I'm sure you'll the remaining letters in time.
ReplyDeletetell that thing on the flick to STFU, i got the pronunciation the first time!
ReplyDeleteas for quickies, they ALL are... once you pass a certain age - i believe it's around 19 for the human male, 40 +/- for the female... ;) lmfao
I'm a planner on almost everything, but I rarely plan out my posts beforehand. Hmmm. I didn't know what quinology was until today. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI've got my posts done but there's a few, like X and Z that are reeeaaaaally stretching it. :) No worries - you'll come up with something!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 letters left to write, In looking over V's I saw a lot of ologies.

You'll be fine, don't sweat it :) I've been, for the most part, just one post ahead the entire time....now, I'm not even that far ahead.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I've had to cut back on my commenting and I'm not getting to as many new blogs as I had hoped, but it's still been fun.
I've been enjoying your posts since the first...whether they're quickies or longies, I don't mind :)
Have a great weekend!
I think people stress themselves out with this challenge. Last year I was stressed. This year I refuse to be.
ReplyDeleteThere was one year (last year) where I had my posts mostly scheduled, but that was only 'cause I was travelling for a lot of the month ;)
ReplyDeleteIt was a quickie - but a good one. Good luck with the rest of your posts!
ReplyDeleteYou got nothin' left? Hah! You are the great Elise! Your brain is full of all things fascinating and scientific!
ReplyDeleteR maybe Reflexology?
And "S"? I think you should do Scientology and quote stuff from this article (seriously go read it please): http://io9.com/5978746/the-strangely-true-connection-between-scientology-the-jet-propulsion-lab-and-pagan-sorcery
It will forever open your eyes to what whackos L. Ron Hubbard and Aleister Crowley were.
Your posts have been over the top, phenomenal in every way. This is my first year and I didn't prepare at all. Then, I didn't expect to be editing 2 ms. at the same time to really blow my mind. My posts have been short of character. Good luck with the rest of the challenge.
ReplyDeleteLightbulb moment :) People pre-write their A-Z posts...that's how they get it done! I'm sure you'll come up with some more fabulosity for the rest of the alphabet.
ReplyDeleteQtipology, now that sounds interesting ;) So why not just make stuff up from now on? That'd be really fun. How about Rudeology, Rushology, Raptology for tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteyou will be fine. dont panic. you always come up with great things. we trust on you. :)
ReplyDeletePanic not. I have been winging it like a thing with really big wings since F...
ReplyDeleteI propose this as it has helped me through this challenge. The posts are there in your head, you just have to let them out. And remember Elise. The internet is your friend. Also, your theme rocks very hard. I for one know you can pull it out of the bag. You always seem to.
Rock on,
W.
Quinine is important for making tonic water and helping to relieve cramp too.

Always nice to know about plants with healing properties.
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel better, I'm not done with all my posts either. I'll get to it when I get to it!
I've been winging it since day one. Relax...you can do this!
ReplyDeleteBTW...in my world "A Quickie" means something entirely different!! :)
Hi Elise,
ReplyDeleteOn a rather serious note, I've had concerns about this challenge right from its outset. Although my satirical musings are mostly just a bit of fun, putting myself under such stress is something I could not do.
Still, just take your time and smile, even through gritted teeth :) You will be just fine and will soon realise the end of the alphabet challenge. Heck, I will finish at the letter "A" in the challenge I'm not participating in.
And right on "Q", I shall finish off my comment. Well done on you continuing with these ologies.
In kindness,
Gary :)
No worries! If it makes you feel any better, I'm completely winging it - from letter A on, no pre-written posts, all new prologue serial *smacks head repeatedly* I don't know what the hell I was thinking:) So I've got stress in the bag, along with a 50 gallon thermos of coffee:) Have a great weekend and relax:)
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Elise--you've got this, girlie!! I'm confident that you'll keep it up for the rest of the challenge. Just keep swimming, you're almost there sister!!!
ReplyDelete+++ vibes your way :D
I love your quirky and quaint Q post!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the word quickie, I wondered where on earth was the AC warning... LOL.
Writer In Transit
I totally planned on channeling my inner Alex Ninja master and planned on doing all my posts ahead of time...real adult like. BUT, I'm winging it too, freaking writing posts at 11:00 pm the night before. Thankfully I picked a very easy topic.
