Daily Word Count: 1,257
Total Word Count: 15,053

This is my midnight-humm-what-the-hell-do-I-write-next face.
I look like this most of the time. :D

Shhh, it's past midnight and I've finally broke the 15k mark-- *quiet dance*
It's gotta be my tea cosy hats. ;)
Now, I need to get some sleep, it's the only time I can figure out what to write next. :P

Also, to everyone stopping by and being so darn encouraging, Thank you and I <3 you all. Sorry I can't be a better blogger/return commenter right now. But have a great weekend and I'll catch up with you soon.

IWSG - Move Your A**

IWSG is a monthly bloghop hosted by
writer and blogger Alex Cavanaugh
where writers are encouraged to talk
about their insecurities.

I'm sitting here, trying to write this post and as usual I'm struggling. The clock is staring at me and I'm freaking out because I've waited until the last possible minute. The only thing saving me right now, is the time zone. Sheesh.

So here I am, again trying to think of a new insecurity to talk about when it hits me. *thump*

I don't need new insecurities!

I still have all these old ones that continue to kick my butt with gusto!

  • Self-doubt?
  • Fear of disappointment?
  • Fear of being unoriginal?
  • Procrastinating with my edits?
  • Fear of never being published?
  • Loss of passion for my wip?
  • Setting unrealistic goals?
  • Fear of writing because I suck?
  • Fear of never finding my writing voice?
  • Fear everyone will hate my book?

So you know what? I think I'm going to try working on the aforementioned list of insecurities OR, I can just ignore them for now, get off the internet, sit my butt down in front of my edits and start working. Because let's face it, my insecurities aren't going anywhere and I've lost my Squelching-Insecurity stick. Blast. However, I did set a goal to finish my edits before April and this is still possible, but I have to get on it ASAP.

Here's hoping March will be a productive month for me, for you, for everyone. I think it can be, we just need to do like James . . .

Writers Workshop: Character Description Rewrite

Here is my rewrite for Honey's Writers Workshop exercise. But first, I want to thank everyone that commented and left advice/suggestions on the pos character description I put up last Thursday. THANK YOU! Every comment was helpful and motivating

Below is the rewrite. It's still not a true character sketch because remember, I pulled the excerpt directly from my wip. This original excerpt was written two years ago and contained 202 words. The rewrite is down 153. That's 49 words cut, but doesn't necessarily mean it's any better. In fact, there's something that still bothers me about this segment but I can't seem to put a finger on it. I'll just have to keep fiddling with it when I start my edits

----

I studied the reflected image for a long while. An ashen face, hollow cheeks and purplish shadows hung beneath eyes that stared back at me. I was unrecognizable. A mental flash took me back weeks ago when dark whispers taunted my sanity and had me toying with ideas. Deadly ideas. "Slit your wrist. Do it," they said. In the end, I hacked away at my hair instead.

Casting the memories aside, I refocused on the rest of my naked body. Most of my womanly curves were gone and I looked more like a dry, over stretched rubber band. You are a mess, Edessa. The only thing recognizable of this haggard body was the color of my eyes, still the same shade of green.

Why do I care what I look like anyway?  I tried killing myself only yesterday, does it really matter if I look like Hell? Interesting word choice, I thought. Hell…

---

What do you think? Did I just make a total mess of this? Did I manage some improvements? Is there anything that got lost in the rewrite?
