Balneology (the short version) is the study of baths and bathing, particularly therapeutic bathing (wikipedia).
You know what I’m thinking?
Career change! :D
The slightly longer version--balneotherapy (from Latin: balneum, "bath") is described as the treatment of disease by bathing, usually practiced at spas. It’s similar to another field of study called hydrotherapy. Balneotherapy may involve the following elements for treatment:
· Hot or cold water
· Massage through moving water
· Relaxation or stimulation
· The use of mineral waters rich in elements such as silica, sulfur, selenium and radium, which are absorbed through the skin
· The use of medicinal clays known as ‘fangotherapy’
Any Balneologists need test subjects? (;
Other bitchin' B_ology words to ponder:
Bolgology: The science of blogging!
Batology:
Now
before you get all excited, no this is not the study
of The Batman, that would be Batmanology, of which I would be an active member. Batology is actually the study of
brambles, the plants in the genus Rubus which
includes blackberries and raspberries.
Cocktail anyone?
