And it's only Wednesday.
Tomorrow, I go to a funeral and in a few days it'll be my birthday. *le grand sigh
Last month I was hoping that this post would be full of great progress and stuff.... but...... nope.
No dice.
I've been hearing people say lately that in times of great difficulty, get creative. I love this idea and I wish I could get creative, but I just can't seem to get it together. Here's hoping February is a little easier on me that January.
So, guess who needs a ton of chocolate and a tub of alcohol but can't because she's still on her this-isn't-working diet?
Me!!
In any event, I hope your past month rocked the house and I'll leave you with my current sentiment: *takes a sip of imaginary champagne
"In a world that seems to be going backwards, look to those moving forward. May we help them, support them, move with them--be them."
--me :)
Sorry about glasses and car. It is tough to be creative when negative stuff happens.
ReplyDeleteUgh, that's awful. I'm so sorry about your grandmother and all the rest. Definitely forget the diet!!
ReplyDeleteOh no! You poor thing! I can't get creative when things aren't going well. I'm sorry to hear of your grandmother. Sending you my best wishes for a better month. Take care and perhaps pop to 'Hogwarts' to get your glasses fixed. If it's good enough for Harry Potter... :)And I agree with J. forget the diet - eat plenty of chocolate.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sorry about your grandmother. That certainly can be a hard time to be creative.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, given the circumstances, you could schedule a cheat day and enjoy some of that chocolate?
Take care!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI find it stupidly hard to be creative when everything around me is crap. *sigh here too.
I did enjoy the pic with your broken glasses--it says so much.
So sorry to hear about all the troubles and the passing of your grandmother.
ReplyDeleteFebruary will be better! It has to! :)
So sorry. And I want to kick the people who say we should get creative during times of great difficulty. Usually, the difficulty takes everything we have and drains our creativity. During those times I just hang on and weather the storm. Creativity will return with calm. I hope.
ReplyDeleteSo grieved to hear of the funeral, and before that the glasses and the car! These harsh times are grist for your unconscious to make your next writing more deep and real. Please hang in there!
ReplyDeleteWhen it rains it pours, huh? :( You know, I had to write on my planner in big letters the other day: "just do something." I ended up writing for an hour and a half and then finishing an outline that I thought was never going to happen. Channeling grief and frustration and anger or whatever into your writing - even if you're just freewriting to get the rusty wheels moving - will help you deal with the storm until it passes. Which it will. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Elise - life will hit us ... car and glasses - not a good combination. Your grandmother though ... sadly these come along ... with thoughts at not an easy time for you and the family ... the tide will turn ... take care - Hilary
ReplyDeleteUgg that is sure a sucky month indeed. As always, we want to do one thing but life gives us something else to do.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your grandma. Hugs. (And happy birthday ahead of time)
ReplyDeleteThere was a dark period of time for me when my dad and brother were battling and then sadly dying of cancer. In those times, I worried that I wasn't writing, then a writer friend told me that in those times, even if we aren't picking up a pen or typing words on a screen, we are living the things that later become our stories.
So, even if you're not being actively creative, your creative mind is absorbing it all like a sponge.
That said, I still would rather wish you a boring, uneventful life. Hugs.
So sorry to hear about your grandmother, car and glasses. Allow yourself time to grieve and process these things and eventually things will work out. HUGS.
ReplyDeleteYou sure know how to make crappy life crap seem hilarious! I know anything you publish will crack me up.
ReplyDeleteOuch, cars are expensive. Its why I wish I had a personal transporter like those in Star Trek! Haha... but it could have been worse. My friends powersteering gave up the ghost. I couldn't believe it cost two grand to fix.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Elise. I had a similar month in December. As you may know, my mom died. But on top of that I broke my glasses and everything just seemed to go wrong. I survived though, but I know how you must feel with the loss of your grandmother. I'm so sorry for your loss. Weird factoid: I have a friend that is French but lives in SLC, and is getting his PhD in insects. I don't know if that's enough of a coincidence, but there's definitely a French connection there....
ReplyDeleteI hope the ensuing months have been better...but then I remember seeing the thing about your knee...so I'm sending positive thoughts your way and hoping this summer totally makes up for this down period!
