I'd Rather Ski With A Pair of Lightsabers

The family and I are going skiing this weekend. And truth be told, I'm not a good skier. I'm just good enough to leave a trail of yellow snow behind me while I trigger a massive avalanche and scream at everything in my vicinity. Yeah, I'm that person on the slopes, the stay-the-hell-away-from-crazy-lady-falling.

Anyway, I'm trying not to imagine all the horrific ways I could bite it this weekend while locked into those dreadful death-boots. Trouble is, I'm a writer which means, I have no control over my hyperactive imagination. The only thing that could make skiing any fun, is if instead of ski poles, they gave me lightsabers. Yeah, I want to go down the fricken mountain like this...

...then maybe, skiing would be fun. (;

Have a good and safe week/weekend. I'll see you next week for IWSG and a very special REVEAL!

  1. Elise, try and have fun, but as someone who's accident-prone, I know about all of the bad things that can happen. Send me a pair of those lightsabers. They look like fun. lol

  2. Skiing like that would be fun!
Would you prefer to send a clone and stay home where it's safe?

  3. ...I gave up skiing in favor of the snowboard following a fair number of close calls and realizing that, like yourself, I'm a writer, and should consider my limitations ;)

No worries, I'm quite sure you'll perform better than I did!

  4. I'd probably break my neck skiing, if I was lucky, good luck. Hope you survive lol

  5. 'Course you could go cross country skiing, not nearly as dangerous with or without light sabers.

  6. Have fun!
I've never been skiing. Hope to one day. :)

  7. Good luck, Elise! I'd probably suck at skiing as well, but I've never given it a go. :)

  8. Ha,ha! I love skiing -- because it's the only sport I can actually do. (I'm a total klutz if I'm NOT on skis.)

I had a wonderful Monday in the Pennsylvania mountains, despite single digit temperatures, skiing with 5 teenagers. I was ridiculously proud of myself for keeping up with them ... even if I was sore on Monday night. It was a good kind of sore. :D

  10. What's the worst that could happen? I've tumbled head over heels down a slope before, hit the bottom, and burst into laughter. Scared the crap out of the guy behind me and lost my poles every which direction.

  11. Darth Vader does have a good outfit for skiing. In fact any sport that requires a helmet. He probably spent a lot of weekends on the piste.

  12. Could you just take in the ambience, sit in the chalet drinking hot chocolate and write a story about the antics of everybody else on the mountain? Love the sketch. Have a great time away.

  13. You're a brave lady. You couldn't pull me away from the cocoa and the fire. Me on skis is like a six-year-old being given the keys to a semi. Casualties would be impending.

  14. I skiied when I was younger, but sprained my knee in my lat 20's thinking I could still ski like a 17 year old. Wrong. I never went again. I have a world class ski resort in my backyard and I won't go.

  15. Anything is better with lightsabers.

I haven't been skiing in years. I remember enjoying it, despite the fact that I sucked.

  16. I'd do that type of skiing. Light sabers make everything awesome.

  17. Skiing is like wearing size 83 shoes. May the farce be with you and no taking the piste.

Oh, a reveal and of course, mention of that dedication to me! "I Was Seeking Gary." Thank you so very much. My ego is beyond flattered! :)

  18. My first ski trip, I had to make several rounds on the ski lift before I was brave enough to step off it so I could finally ski. :)

    You'll do fine!

  19. I'm so clumsy that I've never tried to ski - I know I would be a danger to myself and to everyone else on the slope. But this makes me want to try it! Hope you have a great weekend and have fun on your ski adventure.

  20. Hi Elise - hope you're enjoying yourselves ... I was never a good skier either .. in fact I'm not sure even lightsabers would help!! Though I can see your imagination being lit by them .. actually copying that dancing spider down the slopes would be fun!!

    Cheers Hilary

  21. I hope you survived your weekend (and everyone else survived too). Isn't there a lodge or somewhere warm and nice you can stay and read a book while they ski? Or maybe put on some cross country skis and enjoy nice level trails? Looking forward to your reveal. :)

  22. ROFL. xD Love it.

I'm not a skier. Never tried. At least you get on the slopes. Good for you.

My mom knew a young lady who, in a desperate moment, pulled her ski suit down to squat and pee behind a tree. She lost her footing and slid down the hill on skis, half naked. Mortified, the woman spent the rest of the trip in the lodge.

When she first got up the nerve to go in, she sat down to talk to a guy with a broken leg who was stuck there, too. Turns out, he fell and broke his leg because he was distracted, staring a some chick sliding down the mountain with her ski suit around her knees. xD

    Yup. It's a true story.

  23. lol! That probably would make skiing more fun :) Well, except for the chance of accidental dismemberment... which would probably be how I'd end up using the lightsaber.

  24. I hope you didn't run into anybody with those lightsabers. Things could get ugly!

  25. My husband keeps wanting me to go skiing, but I'm in my 40s now...and I have a feeling one good fall would break a crucial bone somewhere!

  26. Sounds like good times! This way you can slice and dice all those people who rudely run across your path as if you're not there.

  27. This is hilarious! Love it. Who needs poles! LOL! :)
